Winter sports near Merano/Meran

An active winter awaits you!

Anyone wanting to enjoy winter sports near Merano/Meran is in just the right place at our hotel in Val Passiria/Passeiertal. You don’t just have fun with skiing but also with snowshoe hiking and numerous other winter activities. You can get a little taster here of all the different kinds of winter sports that are on offer to you here.

Cross-country skiing

Val Passiria/Passeiertal entices you with easy and moderately difficult cross-country skiing trails for skating and classic style – all in wonderful natural scenery.

  • In Plan/Pfelders you can find a 12 km long trail with three different versions: one easy one (7 km) and two moderately difficult circuits (5.5 km and 12 km). It is free to use this cross-country skiing trail.
  • A 5.1 km long cross-country skiing trail for beginners and advanced (skating and classic) awaits you in Innerhütt near Plan/Pfelders. You can choose between the easy circuit (3 km) and the moderately difficult circuit (5.1 km). The trail is floodlit from 5.30 to 9.30 p.m. every Thursday and provides a wonderful opportunity for night cross-country skiing.
  • In Valtina/Walten you can cross-country ski on the 7 km long circular trail near Auerhof in both classic and skating style. The trail is open every day from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and can be used free of charge.

Tobogganing

Several natural toboggan runs are situated not far from our hotel in Val Passiria/Passeiertal. Fun is guaranteed here for all ages!

  • You can get to the Grünbodenhütte in Plan/Pfelders on foot or by cable car and whizz 3.5 km back down to the bottom station.
  • At the STOCKIT Winterpark Valtina/Walten there’s a magic carpet that takes you to the start.
  • The Sonnenpark in Stulles/Stuls entices you with a fast toboggan run and 70 m long conveyor system.
  • The Bergkristall luge track in Moso/Moos in Passiria/Passeier is a World Cup track. The forest path from Gasthof Bergkristall to the Valtmaralm is also suitable for sledging.
  • You can also sledge in Corvara/Rabenstein near Colle/Bichl.
  • From Stulles/Stuls you can walk up to the catered Egger-Grub-Alm all year round and toboggan down from there.

Ice skating

All ages can skate their laps on the two ice rings in Val Passiria/Passeiertal.
The natural ice rink in Plan/Pfelders is open from mid-December to March (closed on Wednesdays). The ice rink in San Martino/St. Martin is open from Monday to Sunday from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (closed on Thursdays).

Ice climbing

One of Europe’s largest and most spectacular ice climbing centres – that’s the ice tower in Corvara/Rabenstein. Up to 18 athletes can climb on this 25 m high ice tower, a 14 m high ice cylinder and a 15 m high ice wall at the same time with minimal risk. The ice tower in Corvara/Rabenstein is open from mid-December to the end of February. You can hire the equipment on site.
